Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice player My husband and I just purchased this player today, we had it unlocked as it was only for use with Region 4 discs. It was easy to set up and has a nice picture, it even plays two DVD's that were unplayable on my former player. I would have given it 5 stars but there is no front display panel on it and I really wanted that, but unfortunately, it seems like none of the newer players have that feature. If you want a fairly inexpensive player with a good picture and easy to set up, that can be unlocked for multi-regions, I would suggest trying this one, but if a display panel is important.....well, I don't think you will find many newer models with one.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not all regions I bought this dvd as it came up in a search for all region dvd player. The reviews on Harvey Norman's site backed this up. It doesn't play all region dvd's. I contacted Harvey Norman but they haven't bothered replying. I will be sending it back.

It was very easy to set up and has a nice, clear picture. I would have given five stars, but there is no front display panel, but I understand that the new DVD's are all that way. It is a good player for the money. PROS: Can be unlocked for multi-region playing. Clear picture Easy to set-up Comes with an HDMI cable. CONS: No front panel display

I ordered what I thought was an improved version, given the cost was more than half as much again, but I'm disappointed. I wish now that I'd kept searching and tried to find a Sony, a brand I trust. I will wait until my S500GN-K kicks the bucket before I start using my DVD-S700. However, thank you for your prompt and efficient service.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It works! Nice looking unit I bought to replace an older Sony player. Thankfully plays DVD's I purchased in the UK. Haven't tried NZ DVD's but assume it will play those as well. Has a HDMI output connection. Remote is quite old school.

Good morning, Is this DVD player compatable with the Samsung S700D S Series Soundbar? Thanks Janice

Great question Janice! Yes, as long as your Soundbar is connected to the HDMI ARC port on your TV, then you will be able to connect the DVD player to the TV directly via HDMI for video, and have the audio broadcast through the soundbar. You will not be able to connect this player to the soundbar directly. Hope this helps clarify! ^CO

Thanks for your question. The product comes with a remote, batteries, and an A/V cable to connect the unit to your TV. Aside from needing DVD's and CD's, you will need a USB device depending on media type for playback and potential software updates when prompted. Trust this helps!

So this DVD player is HDMI compatible - does it come with a HDMI cable ?

Thanks for your question. Yes, this is HDMI compatible. This model only comes with 1 x Audio/Video cable (K2KA2BA00003), 1 x Remote Control (N2QAYA000015) and 2x Batteries for remote control. HDMI cable is not included. Trust this helps!

Does the HDMI connection power the player? We have a Samsung Smart TV

Great question Peter. The player is powered by a 220-240V AC power adapter which is included in the box with the unit. The HDMI cable connection will only provide audio and video. Trust this helps!

Can it play .avi format, please? A friend records programmes from UK TV for us (we can't get UK TV) and uploads them for us to download in .avi format. One of our Pioneer players that was able to play .avi has broken down and the other one gives trouble.
