Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible Flavor I used this charcoal in my Kamado Joe Classic several times. The first time I used it on chicken. It gave the chicken a kerosene flavor. I thought maybe I did not let the charcoal get hot enough (a problem I have never had with other charcoal). I tried the charcoal again making sure that all of the charcoal was burning and then I adjusted the air vents on my Joe to get the heat down to 300. Again the flavor of the chicken was like Kerosene. We could not eat it. I have had my Joe for about (5) years and have never had this issue with other charcoals. I have purchased other Joe products and I have no complaints but I will not use this charcoal again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Large and dense chunks with long burn time Been using this lump for 5 year's. Have tried other brands and always come back to this one. It's dense, easy to light, burns long and hot but also maintains consistent low temps. Puts off a neutral smoke profile which allows me to supplement with my wood species of choice when smoking BBQ without having the oak or hickory smoke that American hardwood lump puts off. It's the best bang for my buck. Comparable lump that uses the same species of quebracho wood costs much more than this one.

They’ve spent so much money changing the packaging to something that’s frustrating and messy. There is a smaller bag placed within the larger paper bag, so you end up pouring the smaller bag into the paper bag and then digging it out of the paper bag. No other charcoal brand I’ve used does this, but kamado joe seemed to find away to make things way more difficult than it used to be . I will no longer be using this product until the packaging changes

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Burns Clean and Even Cleans Up Easy [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just introduced to Charcoal Grilling, decided to get two sets of this product. Easy to open, pull the string, poor into my new Konnect Joe without getting my hands dirty and ready for another clean burning session. Very little "bad" white smoke and stays at a steady burn level even with drippings. Chunks are a nice size giving great air circulation and burn evenly. Used two bags worth without small chunks or dust buildup at the bottom. Don't even need to add additional "special" wood, as it has a great taste of its own.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Buy Jealous Devil instead Frankly, it's not great. I have opened 3 out of the 6 bags I purchased and I have small pieces and dust. Not to mention the inside of the bags are falling apart.
