Deco x90, the perfect WiFi router for big spacesNot sure why the system thinks I have the AX6600, this review is for the X90.
After trying a number of router and extender combinations I finally gave in to the lure of mesh networking. I wish I had done it sooner! Whilst I had researched this space over the last couple years, I was waiting for a kit like the deco to come along to fit a sweet spot of performance and price. The X90 does that for me. My link speed is rock is solid, the roaming hasn't let me down and I no longer have to manually fidget between networks to get the best signal in my apartment.
The apartment is quite long with thick walls and heavy doors. The units are around 15m away from each other and paint the apartment in solidly wonderful wifi 6. The dedicated backhaul gives me superior performance from the remote unit, with more bandwidth available than my measly 100Mb Internet connection offers.
Whilst it's still early days, only a few weeks old, the link has been solid with no drop outs or performance issues even though I have dozens of devices connected simultaneously.
The app that controls the units, whilst easy to use, is a little simple for my liking. I would like it to offer a bit more information and control than it currently does. But it does all the basics well. I'm not a fan of having to connect it with a cloud account but it's a negative I'm willing to look past for now.

Does not support encrypted VPNEasy to setup and the app is great, however, after having trouble with my work VPN TP Link technical support the Deco routers do not support encrypted VPNs. In these times of working from home it seems incredible this has been overlooked. Now I have to drive 2hrs to swap with a system that does support VPN
