Rated 3 out of 5 by from 3 thing I immediately don't like about the clip 4 I used to own a clip 3 and loved it. So I purchased a clip 4. The sound seems better on the clip 4 but right out of the box I don't like 3 things immediately. 1: I don't like that there is no dust cover for the charging port. I don't care if you say it's "dust" proof, I work in construction and I'm going to be very upset if it gets clogged with a bunch of crap other than dust and I can't charge it. 2: I don't like that the power and Bluetooth buttons aren't concaved anymore, they are raised so they are way to easy to hit the button turning it off or the Bluetooth which is just annoying. 3: the charging cable is way to short. I like the clip 3 design better.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Less features I bought a jbl clip 3, been using it for years, but the battery is sadly no longer holding a charge or charging. So when i came looking for a new one, i figure upgrading to the jbl clip 4 wasnt a bad idea, same price i paid for the old one. And then as i was trying it out, i come to find they removed features the previous model had. No more phone calls, just audio. No long displays battery life percentage in bluetooth menu. Their "waterproof" is now like phones, no flap to cover the port, just cant charge it until the port dries out. The only apprehension i had about buying it, based on reviews and design was the sensitive buttons. But thats the one thing i haven't had happened. Companies need to stop making new models with less features than the old models. Might as well be selling a downgrade.

I had an older model that worked better, it connected for phone calls which was the main reason I purchased. This newer version has no mic/phone audio so I can't make phone calls while riding my bike. I wish I had known this before buying. It also doesn't tell me the battery life of the speaker on my phone which is the only device I have it connected to. The sound is ok. The rubber bumpers began peeling off immediately and are almost all gone

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big Sound Small Speaker [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First, this is the loudest portable speaker I have ever used/owned. The big sound that comes from such a small unit is incredible, the clarity of sound is as good as my big surround sound system and it holds a charge for a long time, never died on me! Love the clip feature, great for handbag, backpack or other uses. Physically it's very durable, this speaker survived a car wreck (me too) where car was totaled, I was surprised it was not in pieces like so many other items. It's a great speaker, easy to use, would make a great gift for anyone.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cool speaker I like the jbl clip 4. I wish there was a way to skip the song, instead of just fast forward. Also, a button to let you know how much battery was left. I do not like the placement of the power switch, can be turned off by bumping it wrong. I would like more colors like the clip 3. Sounds great. But fully charged, it did not play for 10 hours, which I thought it would. It said 10 hours of battery, and I am wondering, how is that measured?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good sound, low battery life. I bought this to use at work, assembling vehicles, moving every 1/2 hour. The sound is good, I'm not in a loud environment. But the volume was at 3/4 and above for less than 4 hours and the battery was drained. The thing that was frustrating is the power button location. Since I was moving it 2-4 times an hour, the habit is to grab and go. When you do, the power button is almost always hit and the unit shuts off. I had to make sure I grabbed the carabiner. If you're looking for a small personal speaker, it had good sound and should serve you well. If you are in a louder environment, you may need more power and longer battery life.

Considering it is designed to be clipped to a backpack, golf bag, etc, the buttons should be recessed or you should have to hold them down to activate them. Hoping a firmware update can fix this poorly thought out design!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful sound on the go; Light and compact design [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I absolutely LOVE the JBL Clip 4!! The design is compact and light, but the sound quality is absolutely amazing. All genres of music sound amazing on this! The amount of bass that comes out of the Clip 4 is truly impressive! However, the bass does not drown out vocals, or make them sound muffled or distorted. All aspects of the song are crisp and clear. The "clip switch" is easy to depress, making it quick and convenient to clip it on my bike, then to my backpack/bag. I've even clipped it on the towel rack in the bathroom to have some music while I shower. The sound is powerful and isn't easily drowned out by outside noise, even while on the bike trail. The Clip 4 has easy to locate volume control buttons, but volume can also be controlled via Bluetooth. Connecting to Bluetooth was easy with no issues. I haven't fully tested the 10 hour battery life. But even listening to music through the Clip 4, for a few hours, I still have ample battery life available. I 100% recommend getting the Clip 4 if you want quality sound on the go, in a lightweight, compact speaker.

I tried renaming the Clip 4 via JBL Portable App but it does not recognize the speaker in-app despite my iPhone 12 pro max being connected to the Clip 4 for bluetooth sound. Is it supported in the app? If not is there another way to rename it?

Thanks for reaching out. Our JBL Clip 4 isn't supported by the JBL Portable App. However, you can easily change its Bluetooth name by accessing your phone's Bluetooth settings. Please ensure that your speaker is connected to your phone's Bluetooth before proceeding with the following steps. First, tap the information icon ("i") next to the JBL Clip 4's Bluetooth name. Then, select the "Name" option to change the Bluetooth name of your speaker to your desired name.

I cannot get the jbl clip 4 to connect to my iPad Pro 6th Gen. works on my iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPad mini 5th gen. What the eff, I don’t see anything compatibility specs here to find out if it’s too old for the iPad Pro 6th generation. PLEASE help.

Thanks for your inquiry. We're here to help. Before connecting your iPad Pro to the JBL Clip 4, ensure no other devices are connected. Activate pairing mode by pressing the Bluetooth button once; the LED indicator should flash white. Please note that all Bluetooth versions are backward-compatible and can work with lower Bluetooth protocols. Despite the JBL Clip 4 having Bluetooth 5.1, it remains compatible with Bluetooth 5.0 devices like the Apple iPad Pro. If connection issues persist, consider reaching out to Apple Customer Support for additional assistance.

can you connect multiple of these together to play music at the same time?

Thanks for your question. Our JBL Clip 4 doesn't support the Connect or Connect + feature, which can be paired with other JBL speakers. It can only be connected to one source device at a time through a Bluetooth connection.

Yes, our JBL Clip 4 is IP67 waterproof and dustproof. It can be submerged in up to 1.5 meters of salt or fresh water for 30 minutes.

Can the Clip 4 ultra waterproof be worn while swimming laps?

Our JBL JBL Clip 4 is rated IP67 which protects the product from submersion in 1 meter (3.3 feet) of water for up to 30 minutes. However, continuous exposure to high temperatures may cause moisture inside the earbuds that can cause internal damage and it can't be used while swimming because Bluetooth signals cannot travel through water.
