Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not good I already have this set of scales, but wanted to replace with a new set as some of the functions had ceased to work on my old set. I bought the new version. Could I get into the battery compartment? Not a chance - unless you have a 00 screwdriver. I wastold that the teeny little screwwas for safety - to prevent children from accessing the battery. Safety gone mad, when you can't easily put in a battery. Couldn't be bothered, so returned it to the store...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from battery dept No where in the instructions did it mention the minute philips screw holding in the battery compartment, it was almost impossible for me and I'm pretty fit and managed to find a small enough screwdriver but for the elderly i suggest it would be impossble - for goodnest sake Salter think ahead and even provide the right tools or redesign it to be as easy as other makes!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great until you have to change the battery Even using a precision small screwdriver unable to budge the screw whoever thought this was a good idea to add a tiny screw to the battery housing!!! If I cannot budge it will be going in the bin I will never ever buy Salter again very disappointed I bought for the brand name lesson learnt.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good everyday scales Been using mine for a while and they're robust, easy to use and easy to clean. Two small reservations: they're not great for precisely weighing light things (eg fresh herbs) and occasionally I get caught out by the auto-off (eg weighing flour, run out, find and open a new packet go to pour it in only to find that the scales have gone off). Nevertheless, I'd recommend them as a solid kitchen tool - especially at this price.

It has all the features necessary in a small, lightweight frame that is perfect for someone who likes cooking but has a small kitchen. It also looks nice.
