Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent knives at a reasonable price Excellent knives, wickedly sharp. Lightweight and easy to hold. The elevate handles are a nice touch and also feel good in the hand. Slim design of the block means that it doesn't take up much space on the worktop. One star off as although the block itself looks nice, it feels quite cheap, although the knives do slot in nice and securely. Colour coding of the knife handles makes it easy to select the appropriate knife for the job at hand. Initially we thought the set came with a carving knife (our fault for not paying attention!) but the chef's knife works perfectly well for carving and the santoku knife is excellent for cutting fruit and vegetables.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Sharp but lacking in that quality feel [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As you would expect, the knives are very sharp, however they lack a weight to them and do not have a quality feel which surprised me given the price and the J&J brand. The knives are designed such that the blade does not make contact with the work surface when placed horizontally - a nice touch. The block has a cheap feel to it although the knife sharpening block integrates well into the base of the block. In hindsight I should have gone for the wooden knife block set, but I suspect the quality of the knives would still disappoint.

For the money I would have thought these knives would have offered a better balance, but the handles are too light and therefore do not cut true. They are sharp with a decent blade. However, the small serrated knife does not cut true and angles to the left (for a right hander), no matter how consciously I try to correct this action. Seriously, poor value for money unless you just want ‘the look’.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Gorgeous product but missing the sharpener No denying these look good in the kitchen. Sleek design. Beautiful. Also seem to be very sharp. The only quibble I have is that they are a bit tricky to put back and it's easy to miss the exact place and so then they fall out and you have to dodge the blade! However, I think I have mastered it now. The second quibble is that when sold the item said 'includes sharpener' but there was no sharpener included.

Excellent quality and very cleverly thought out set of knives. These are extremely sharp so please be careful. Does exactly what it says on the box but even better than expected. Happy to genuinely recommend them to others and thanks to whoever thought up the idea from Joseph Joseph

I’m quite limited for space and the slender profile of this knife block is just perfect for my requirements. The knives themselves feel like really good quality and cut effectively and effortlessly. Very smart design and really happy with my purchase.

I would have saved so much over the years if I invested in this set earlier. Don't let the price put you off. Definitely worth the price and so pleased with the product. Super sharp knives in a stylish holder.
