Rated 5 out of 5 by from An amazing printer, but be ready to put the work This is an amazing printer! I would highly recommend it, just be ready to put in some work to get the most out of it. The reason it does such an amazing job is that it is so customisable. It is really crucial to understand how to use it well: what paper to use, with which settings etc because every one of those factors will affect the output. Don’t assume it is a bad printer if the output isn’t quite what you want. Try different papers on different settings. It has done beautiful fine art prints for me, beautiful photos and cards, but only when I test and try to get the best fit for each image and paper. I would highly recommend this printer!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Look great at first but then never switched back on:( The printer installation was very easy and smooth and I was initially impressed with the quality of the build and the printer. The app was excellent and stepped me through the installation process. The printer was performing very well. However, after two weeks, the printer asked to be switch off and restarted but never switched on again. On calling epson support, they inform me that I now need to somehow get it to a service centre located 20 kms away and be repaired. I'm pretty disappointed with the product and support. This shouldn't happen after two weeks of use. I wish I could be more positive as it was looking like a great printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Day one of our new Printer. The first 3 photos 2 @ A4 1 @ 6x4, Printed on Epson Ultra glossy paper, they look fantastic. Only niggles the written instructions don't line up exactly with the menu choice options. Also The app connection was not as seamless as I was expecting so couldn't use it set up the printer. The blue tooth never showed up on my iPhone. Also the written instructions don't mention that when you first power on and select the language. The printer does not go to the expected screen in the instructions. I found it was easier to do the manual set up at step 3 and then circle back for the networking. Small niggles but a non tech savy person may have struggled.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great features, but build quality could be better This is a great printer with a useful range of features, but the build quality has gone down. My previous Epson printer, the WF-5690, was a sturdy little workhorse with thick plastic trays and the ET-8550 feels more flimsy in comparison. This seems to be a cost-saving measure on Epson's part, as every other printer they're producing these days has a similar feel. I bought this printer for the A3 paper capacity, the cheaper ink, and the photo quality. I always buy Epson printers because of how easy it is to get them to communicate with my Apple devices. I'd love to see Epson give some upfront advice on how to adjust printer profiles for paper other than their own brand, but I don't think they'd see that as a smart marketing choice!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Have just purchased earlier today, but everything is going well As I've only purchased and setup my new printer today (Jan 28th, 2022); I won't be able to provide a more detailed review. Everything is working good, test prints; tax invoice of actual purchase, installing programs on my mobile phone and laptop (used cd supplied, but took a while to complete printer installation). It will mainly be used for school work (starts in 4 days!), as well as general printing of documents. I could print from my mobile phone, but need to actually use photo paper (smaller then A4) in a different paper tray which I don't have. Quite happy with everything being just the 1st day of use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All rounder product After careful investigation of a couple of ink based printers, I came across the ET-8550 which had quite a lot of benefits for my use, namely, A3 printer in a compact size, huge savings on ink and full photo based printer which would be beneficial in creating my own albums and personalized birthday and gift cards for our friends. Initially I was thinking that the price is quite high when compared to other ink based printers however the extra features that are mentioned above do compensate for its value plus you get free a 3 year warranty on top. The printer is quite easy to set up and use so no issues there as well. Love the product and will recommend it to my friends.

If you are going to force people to write a review to get the extended warrantee, before they have used the printer enough to form an opinion, then this is what you should expect! This may be a good printer, or it may not, ask me again in 12 months

Rated 4 out of 5 by from NIce Printer/Scanner I bought this from HN in September 2021, so far so good!. Once setup and ink is filled, which is quite easy and no mess there was a little left over in each bottle, pretty much to the bottom of the label on the bottle was left, the printer goes through about 14 pages (forget the number) of various setup routines. It used a reasonable amount of ink in its initial prime and test pages, so much so I could use the remainder of the ink in the bottles to top it up. There is still a little ink in the bottles. With the setup of the Wi-Fi connection, I have a dual band setup and the modem/router places into a 'Smart' connection so there is only one visible connection, some devices that are 2.4ghz are clever enough to see through that and connect, but not this printer, I had to disable the 5ghz band and setup only with the 2.4ghz running, then all went well. I have been able to print from my laptop, my phone and also from my work supplied laptop. The printer also wakes from sleep mode without having to do anything and the paper tray self ejects to catch your prints, but you do have to press the touch screen button to close it. The CD/DVD tray is apparently stored under the printer, I havent looked as yet. Plus they say to store it there when not in use. The first photo print we did came out nice, however dimmer than the picture, so some pre-processing to enhance the picture might be needed. Perhaps this is due to mu phone screen showing brighter colours than what was actually there on the day. Text printing is clear, but will depend on the quality of the text you are printing. Sometimes it prints quite quick and other times it sits there waiting for the info to be sent, so I think connection speed is important. I have also used the auto double sided print function and that worked quite well. We have used the scanner twice so far to, 1 to create a PDF and 2nd to create a copy of a page and it worked very well. We are extremely happy with the ET-8550 so far!

Hii can this printer printing be used for t-shirt printing

Hi Swalihah. The Epson ET8550 is 6 colour multi-function printer. This printer is perfect for most sublimation products, especially for sublimation T-shirt printing. Sublimation shirt printing is a specific process of printing that first involves printing onto a special sheet of paper, then transferring that image onto another material (usually polyester or a polyester mix). The ink is then heated until it disintegrates into the fabric. You will need to used sublimation ink in the printer as well as the sublimation paper. But yes it is possible. We trust this helps

Does this printer print up to A3? Elsewhere I'm only seeing this model as A3, but on this website it's showing A4.

What is the actual max scan size? Specs here say it's A3, but Epson website says it's A4.

Thanks for your question Zoran. We can confirm the max scan size on the flatbed is indeed A4 and has been updated to reflect this. The print size is A3 through the rear feed paper tray. Hope this helps clarify.
