Great display
This TCL QD-Mini LED TV has a great display, the black levels are very nearly indistinguishable from an OLED. However you get much more brightness and stunning HDR. The only thing a little better on an OLED is the contrast, but to a small degree. There is almost no noticeable halo effect, with only a very small amount noticible on test patterns, but certainly not noticeable when watching content. Thanks to the 1000+ dimming zones, black appears pure black.
The operating system is good running Google TV, everything feels fast for the most part. However there's a bit of TCL bloatware that is in not removable.
Negative for this TV: It's pretty disappointing this TV is shipped running Android TV OS version 12, considering version 14 is the latest, and this is a 2025 model TV. It seems TCL isn't great with software updates so there's no promise of the latest version ever coming.
The remote is also disappoing, it feels cheap and light, no back-lighting and cluttered, not what you should expect for a TV at this price point.
The sound is good, but still nowhere close to even a basic soundbar.
Overall its great value for a very near OLED experience.

TCL as good as big brands
We have always bought the big well known brands but took a chance on this TV. Very pleased with picture quality. Smart apps work well. TCL TV stream was a surprise, some interesting shows in there. Will be adding sound units later but TV sounds very good on its own.
