Rated 4 out of 5 by Jesica317 from Good product [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I tried Baxter of California Fortifying Shampoo for the first time, and I have to admit that at first, I really disliked it. It’s not like any other shampoo I’ve used and ultimately that is why I loved it! The smell is what I first noticed and it wasn’t flowery or sweet smelling but more like medicated or minty almost. That’s why I think it works so well because it isn’t comprised of a bunch of things you don’t need and it does exactly what it’s supposed to. It’s a little thick so you have to work a little bit to get it to lather but it rinses out easily and it thickens, volumizes, and strengthens.

I don’t know that you could really review them separately since I feel they complement each other and would be odd to use one without the other. Hair feels and looks good. My wife likes to run her fingers through my hair when we lay on the couch and can confirm this stuff has helped. Scalp is not itchy or flaking. Has a nice fresh and crisp scent. I really like natural ingredients. It makes me feel better that I’m not using any harsh chemicals on my hair and scalp.

I have used both the new and the old and although the new seems OK I also miss the old formula. I have to say that it’s nice of you to respond to the comments Baxter ... but your response is hollow and no one really cares about the additive of citric acid in your shampoo! I don’t think that was the point for many of us and it seems that the new formula has clearly cheapened the product and our perception of the product!! Perhaps you should keep this new formula if you must but come out with perhaps Baxter Classic Shampoo - it would go along way in improving sales and showing your loyal customers how much you listen and care.

Rated 2 out of 5 by McBaxter from Bring Back the Old Formula! I've been using this product for years and loved it. I recently restocked, and noticed the label said "New and Improved Formula". Unfortunately, the original was much better. It seems to take 3 times (3 pumps vs. 1) as much product to lather up my short hair properly. I can't imagine how much it would take for a longer hair style. It also just leaves my a different feeling...not as smooth as with the original formula.

I would give it 5 stars but Baxter discontinued offering the 1-liter refill size, making it more expensive and less enviro friendly than it needs to be. Bring back the liter!

Unfortunately, I did not pay careful attention when placing my most recent order. They changed the formula and it no longer contains various ingredients such as "tea tree oil" (among others). The new formula, in my opinion, is just okay and nothing special (let alone worth the price). The prior formula kept my dry scalp (and mild flaking) in check and it felt better while shampooing (more of a tingle). This new formula does neither of these. Yes, the price is now lower for more product, but I really do not care for more of a product that is "nothing special." Sorry, but you've lost a loyal customer

I love the ingredients mentioned on the bottle, which is very simple in design, but I think that the simple design stands out in a market that strives to be the best. To me what matters is the ingredients, which are rice protein, basil root and pea sprout to name a few. I have never used these before in any shampoo but I am glad that I did. Now in saying all this, the shampoo does work well with the conditioner and does leave the scalp feeling clean and fresh. Which was a super plus for me. I washed my hair twice for each wash day and each time that mint sensation kicked it. It was really nice.

Well, obviously you did it to increase profits. But the new shampoo shares almost nothing in common with the old shampoo, especially not the scent, invigorating sensation, or reasonable price. I've bought the Fortifying Shampoo once since the change, and won't do so again. You'll "share this feedback with the team" or whatever, but you obviously don't mind selling your soul or cheaping out on your products if it means expanding your market base. Oh well! #latestagecapitalism
