Rated 1 out of 5 by LiedtoRyGuy from Unreliable, short lived, garbage! Don't Trust it! I bought a solid state hard drive to edit video and music on a macbook pro. The internal HD on the macbook is so small for media. I bought this SSD HD expecting the best. I started having issues right off of the bat. The macbook not recognizing the drive. However, after a few unplug and plug back in, I can usually get it to work. I got injured and haven't been making media in 6 months. Recorded a video today only to find out that I cannot get this to work for the life of me. No ability to to use disk utility to repair. No recognition what so ever. I've lost hundreds of hours of video and thousands of photos. What kind of product is this?

Rated 1 out of 5 by tschabs21 from The Worst Drive, Ever! Something like this being known and SanDisk ignoring and still selling the products, is ridiculous. This drive lasted maybe a month and then I lost GB's of pictures and videos from the previous weekend. I unfortunately did not have time to offload them onto my server, as I was traveling, and now everything is gone. It no longer is showing up in disk utility to even wipe it or have it be recognized. It is essentially a poor paper weight on my desk. No photos to add, as I can't even show what it is reading as on any computer. This is a major failure on SanDisk and they need to make it right.

Rated 1 out of 5 by BenA from Continuously disconnects during data transfer Whoever thought it was a good idea to ship a 6" USB-C cable with an external SSD such that it is impossible to have the drive well-supported without a shelf or bolting it to the PC case - I hope you made that money saving $0.50 per shipment. Incredibly poor decision to ship this with the shortest ever manufactured USB-C cable. On top of that, the drive just loves to disconnect a few seconds into any kind of data transfer. How wonderful. If anyone responds to this - do not even think about mentioning driver updates. I swear. Save your money. Buy something that works.

Rated 4 out of 5 by bob29 from M.2 SSD in a nice external enclosure Bought the 4TB version. It came with exFAT, so changed to NTFS first thing to be able to trim it and for better fault tolerance. Have copied ~600GB to it twice (12GB/file on average) and didn't notice it getting particularly hot. Throughput was steady at around 300MB/s. Used a 1m USB cable, the one provided with the drive stayed in the box. Sandisk should have more consideration for the environment and skip this item altogether. It would be a good idea to specify the max. current consumption of this drive. A lot of mishaps experienced by users can likely be related to USB ports with insufficient power output. Using SSDs with PLP (power loss protection) instead of WD blue would probably make more sense in a portable device.

Rated 1 out of 5 by disappointedInSanDisk from Faulty Unreliable Garbage Drive was fine at first, but after about 1 year it's began failing and I fear I'm going to lose all contents. When I plug it in to a Windows 10 machine my system loses internet connection and a "System interrupts" process pegs the CPU. I was hopeful the somewhat-recent drop of firmware updates for the version 2 of this product might resolve the issue, but they don't seem to support this older iteration and have left this product high and dry. I'll steer clear of WD and SanDisk from here on out.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Danielle from Planned obsolescence at its finest Same complaints as everyone else. I'm a photographer and relied on these for everything. Literally a few days after reading about the firmware issue, my newest drive started having problems connecting to my computer, even though their firmware checker said it wasn't affected. It usually connects after several attempts or restarting my computer, so it's not as devastating as the people who have had entire data losses, but it's definitely a time bomb and a huge hassle to move my catalog to a new drive and a waste of money. These used to be the best drives but I'll never use another a Sandisk SD card or drive after this. Western Digital needs to actually provide people with the firmware updates at a bare minimum as compensation for our wasted money instead of providing an empty webpage with no download links.

Rated 1 out of 5 by domdedum from NOT RELIABLE! I've had it for half a year now but I have been having problems since day one. Crashes constantly and I keep having to format it. I spent so much money on this crappy drive. I'm a full-time photographer and this drive is an absolute headache. Luckily I have multiple hard drives to back up from so I'm able to back up my stuff and pull it just in case. My Drive crashes at least once every other week. Hard to trust SanDisk.
