Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice, but needs 3" Longer Cable, & a FlipDown Leg Great Speed and not too much heat, running on my Mac Mini M1. Form factor is a bit smaller than even expected, cute and manageable. However, the included cable is Way Too Short, risking torque on a USB-C port when trying to arrange the cable to not be right up against the adjacent HDMI cable - so be gentle... The included cable should be 2" to 4" inches longer - PLEASE :) And, to upgrade the Great Design of the casing - add a 1" flip down leg, for the option to raise the unit at one end - for more air flow and less heat. Having it sit flat on top of a machine makes it prone to getting hotter during large transfers, and thus could reduce lifespan.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Unseless Locked out of my own data. The installed software will NOT launch, the driver the company refer to is NOWHERE to be found. They didn't fix ANYTHING, the "More" link right on this page alleging to address the issue doesn't work. No idea what to do next-this is a travesty. I would return but all my data is trapped in there.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Dependable Very disappointed in this drive. I bought it to replace a drive I use at my school. So far, I have had to recreate tests and other school documents that I saved on this drive because I could no longer open them after I created and saved them. At first I thought it was user error, but I started saving them to another external drive first before the san disk drive. I still lost some of my documents on the San Disk but not on the other drive. I emailed WD support about my issue and I have not receive any response. The final straw that made me write this review is I am in the year book coordinator at my school and I just lost this 720 pictures I transferred from my camera to the San Disk drive. I have used many SanDisk and WD drives in the past and I am really disappointed in this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast Speeds and Large Portable Storage [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I heard great things about this Extreme Portable SDD and they weren’t wrong. I used this 1TB SDD to store videos that were bogging down my cell phone and the transfer process was seamless from my MacBook Pro. I am very happy with the physical size of the SDD as well. It makes portable storage easy and I feel very secure since it’s a SDD vs the type which can more easily get damaged. I highly recommend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It would get a 5 stars if I can get some support The price, small shape of the drive, and speed are great. I have a Macbook Air. It worked fine until a couple days ago out of where it no longer mounts to my Mac OS. I don't have a PC to fix the drive, and it's not the charging port. I own 2 of these which are the exact same drive. The other one works fine, but my other one does not respond no matter what I do. If SanDisk provided some type of software to fix this issue on my MacOS that would be great.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from There's a reason it's always on sale I had two of these both break within weeks of when I got them. They wouldn't work with any high speed USB cables. Both Windows and Mac wouldn't even recognize them unless they were connected with USB 2.0 cables, meaning the data transfer speeds were heavily capped. Took them multiple weeks to get me the first replacement, second time I was able to get an upgrade to the PRO version of this product, which I haven't yet had issues with.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Reliability Is Worrisome Purchased a 4tb SanDisk Extreme and partitioned it into 2-2tb. Within a year, I was unable to access the Primary partition and if not for my recovery software, I would have lost my entire home video collection. The technology for SSD long-term but frequently accessed files just isn't there yet for consumers to put their trust in. Although fast and easily recognized by PCs, the reliability is worrisome.
