Rated 3 out of 5 by from The good and the other. I was unhappy with some aspects of my recently purchased G7x Mark II and decided to buy this camera. I have taken several hundred images with it so far. There are some good things about it operationally that make it easier to use than the quirky, sometimes uncooperative G7x. Calling this lens "superb" is a stretch. I realize that big zooms involve trade offs so my findings are not that surprising I guess but I was hoping for better. Image quality shows less sharpness and lower contrast than the G7x by far. For internet images it's OK but for big prints it can't be that good. G7x Mark II when you can get it to behave makes super sharp images. You just can't win.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing features for a point and shoot [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wanted a dedicated camera to take my photos to the next level. The PowerShot is perfect! Most importantly, it can zoom for days with its 40x zoom (and up to 80x using its ZoomPlus feature!). I take a ton of nature shots and the PowerShot let’s me get the perfect shot of wildlife in tall trees and at a distance. The image stabilization helps me take perfect photos every time. It even has a video camera feature to take amazing 4k videos. When I’m done, I use WiFi to automatically transfer the photos to my iPad. If you want (way) better photos than your phone, you have to get a PowerShot. (It fits in your pocket too!)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Nice Camera [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Whether you're a novice or experienced photographer, this camera offers the user the simplicity of point and shoot up while allowing the functionality to customize your photo settings. Picture quality is outstanding, the menu is easy to navigate and the 40X optical zoom (160X digital) is phenomenal. I really like the ability to wirelessly transfer photos to my phone as it negates the need to remove the memory card and transfer manually. The only drawback I see with the Canon SX740 HS is it didn't come with a memory card. Including a card with even just minimal memory would have been appreciated.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding pictures with an amazing zoom! I bought this camera to use traveling because of it compact size and amazing zoom! Canon hit a home run with the SX740 HS. High quality pictures with an amazing zoom. It's very easy to setup the WiFi and Bluetooth. It allows you to quickly send pictures directly to your phone to forward on or to your computer/printer. The camera is very easy to use and the Optical Image Stabilizer really helps produce sharp pictures. Extremely helpful for unsteady people like me. I just love the 4K movie quality from this camera!

I love the flip camera for selfie shots of my kids and me. It fits easily into my small over-the-shoulder bag and It's very lightweight. I'd recommend this camera for a beginner just getting into photography like me since it's not an intimidating camera. It's very easy to use and navigate. The pictures are great quality!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressive little camera 740HS I used to carry a Gopro everywhere but found I needed something with a zoom to get more than just a wide shot. I read all the reviews on this camera and bought it and was pleasantly surprised. The picture quality is great and the menu easy to follow. Although the focus is a bit slow, this is after all a pocket camera and gets me the shots I wanted. It allows me to shoot in manual also and that is perfect for me. For its price and size, I think it’s a good deal. If you are looking for more, you will pay more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great compact camera The SX740 is a nice upgrade to the SX720, which performed flawlessly for years. The super zoom is great for concerts and sporting events. I wish that Canon would continue to manufacture compact super zoom cameras for those of us who don’t want to invest in a DSLR and carry additional lenses, or carry bulkier models. I feel like they’re missing out on a critical market segment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Camera for the money! I bought this camera to upgrade from my SX710HS. It is a definite improvement. I actually have this camera for it's zoom and carry a G7X MarkII as my primary camera. So with both I have good coverage from Macro to Long Distance. Also this camera has the new Digic 8 sensor in it that makes a big difference. This camera works well in low light but is not at it's best. Well lighted or sunlight conditions is where it excels. The "Zoom" on this camera is excellent and that is what I bought it for. A plus is the macro and movie modes. I wish a software update could be had for a multi frame focus (Face + Tracking) like the G7X MarkII. But that might be asking a bit much or I need to look further into the cameras adjustments for this. Right now I have it on the exact same focus adjustment as my Canon but I only get a single point focus and it is random on the screen. Overall this is a very good point and shoot camera. All the shooting modes have their place and work well. I tried to supply as many pics as I could to cover the cameras ability (Limited to six).

i have downloaded all my images. now i want to clear the card, how do i select all the images on the card to delete them all?

Thanks for your question Tania. According to Canon, you can select multiple image to erase at once, however, protected images will not be deleted. Press the Menu Button > Erase > followed by the relevant option to Select, Select Range, or Select All. A message will display for you to confirm the correct selection. Trust this helps! ^CO

Great question Ash! Yes, This can be toggled on or off in the Shooting Settings menu under the Date Stamp menu. It adds the information to the lower right of the image, however, please note the stamps cannot be edited or removed on images once added. So you will need to disable the option and re-take the picture should you require, or crop out. Trust this helps!

Does the canon sx740hs super zoom  at $596 come with battery and memory card or are those extra cost?

Hi Robin. Thanks for your question. When you purchase the camera you get the PowerShot SX740HS, Wrist strap, Battery Pack, Battery charger, AC Cable and User Manual Kit. Memory cards will need to be purchased separately as they are not included. Hope this helps with your query
