My to go lens for action!
I bought this as my second dog sport lens to complement my 70-200mm f/2.8 for situations where I needed more reach. Initially, I thought I would use it only when extra reach was necessary since I loved the 70-200mm f/2.8 for its beautiful bokeh and speed. However, I haven't taken it off my camera since, and I've used it to shoot the entire season of dog competitions so far. It's incredibly sharp, fast, and the compression is also very nice. I was worried about not having enough light on overcast and rainy days, but I was pleasantly surprised there was very little noise! The size and weight make it great for handheld use as well. Overall, a fantastic purchase.

It’s big and powerful
The Canon 100-500mm zoom lens is like having a personal paparazzi for wildlife – it gets you up close and personal with your subjects without the need for a disguise or stealthy maneuvers. Amazing zoom lens, surprisingly light.
I bought this to go with my R5 for bird and wildlife photography. This lens is incredible. Not only is it sharp with fast and accurate focussing, but its surprisingly light and compact for the focal length. It does come with a tripod foot, but I just hand hold it. My subjects are fast enough that I need a higher shutter speed, and the stabilisation means I don't get movement blur. When zoomed out, it fits easily into my shoulder bag.
Paired with the R5, I can easily lock onto a bird's eye and track it through the trees with almost instant focus. The reach means I can get smaller birds from pretty far away without having to crop and lose detail, and also means I can remain a respectful distance from larger mammals.
If you've got an R series camera and want handholdable long reach, this is the lens to go for.

Amazingly Sharp
I was not sure about this lens initially, given its cost and already owning a 100-400mm, but after a month of owning it now, I am very happy with how sharp the lens is even cropping in on some images the subject remains sharp! Paired with the R5 even in lower light conditions where your pushing the ISO, the results are still very impressive and absolutely an improvement over my EF 100-400 lens. I have even managed some great shots of the moon (untracked).

Sharpest lens I've ever owned
I bought this lens to pair with my Canon R6 mirrorless camera, primarily for bird photography. It was a great choice for me because of its light weight, I can carry it around all day without a problem. The images from this lens are outstandingly sharp & I appreciate that it is also weather sealed. By far the best lens I've ever owned. My only niggle is that if I want to add a 1.4 or 2x extender the lens won't fully retract back, which is inconvenient.

Beautiful Lens For Wildlife Photography
I am a professional wildlife photographer and I bought this lens specifically to take on safaris in Africa. It has the ideal zoom range and is very lightweight, making it a resident in my camera bag, very traveller friendly too. The sharpness of the images are outstanding and is so versatile, even at its lowest F Stop. I would highly recommend this lens to anyone looking for a fatastic quality telephoto lens.

The best telephoto lens I have ever used - when coupled to a Canon R5 it produces photographs of such excellence they can be described as perfection.
The photographer's job is then to simply find the subject and compose it to suit the frame.
A lightweight monopod completes all the gear required for half day of photography.

Awesome for sports
I purchased this lens about 4 months ago and couldn’t be more impressed. I have it mounted to my R6mkii and have been impressed at the results I am getting during the football games. The 70-200 although being sharp and fast, just wasn’t long enough. The 100-500 is the perfect longer lens
