Rated 2 out of 5 by from Rubbish. Spend money elsewhere. Have been using this box for about 5 months now. Pros - easy to set up, seems to work ok for first few weeks. Cons - runs rubbish after the first few weeks. Constant lag, always running out of space (you'll need to clear the cache for the Freeview App a lot), and it is CONSTANTLY losing internet, even when still connected to the wifi. The built-in apps on Hisense TV that this device is connected to have no such issues. I am having to reset the internet or restart the device several times a day. Recommend spending a bit more money, and staying away from the SmartVu product range. Only rating it 2 star, as when it DOES work, it runs just fine.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Utter Crap This thing is useless. We have fast broadband but the audio lags all over the place. The firmware is a disaster. It has awesome features but they're implemented so badly it makes it a huge pain in the behind. The TV guide often says it's updating when it's not, press OK again and it's fine. Junk, buy a better one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Android box - lots of features inside. Great little Android box. Was very easy to setup - especially if you have wifi connection at home. Comes with an HDMI cable too. There is a slight delay in the buttons when changing channels on the freeview mode - but other than that it's really great! Voice commands through the remote, linking to chrome cast, google play applications and USB inputs means I don't need to upgrade my tv.

Thanks for your question. The remote included with the A7070 SmartVU is paired exclusively to the SmartVU unit only and the unit will not accept other remote input. According to the Philips remote instructions, the remote can only be paired with TV and VCR/DVD players/recorders. Hope this helps clarify! ^CO

Under Qs & As for the SmartVu dongle it revealed I would not be able to watch HGTV. However as this is dish compatible and HGTV is available on dish TV not streaming can I watch my reno programmes with this version

Great question! The SmartVU+ can use a satellite dish connecting to the LNB connection on the back of the unit. The system does not supply power to the LNB if you require one, and should be used in conjunction with a decoder, depending on your setup. Any channels you normally receive on your Satellite, will be available through the SmartVU+ once connected. Trust this helps! ^CO

Can I lock the settings such as Freeview password and username or google password and username at the beginning so people todo the change them and have to be reset A

Great question Irie. You can't lock the passwords on these devices. Password reset can be attempted if a user logs out of the account, and selects forgot my password in the sign-on prompt for the app. They shouldn't be able to reset the password, as these requests will go to the email address registered for the account exclusively to authorise or change. I am looking at replacing my sky decoder with a freeview decoder,Does this one support magic eye If not is there a decoder that does?

Thanks for a great question! The unit shares similar rear connections as a Sky decoder, so it should physically connect without issue. The only possible challenge could come from the remote, as it uses both Infrared and Bluetooth signals to transmit, while the Magic Eye uses Infrared exclusively, and may not receive certain signal requests from the remote. We recommend having a chat with a specialist at your local Harvey Norman store, and they can provide further information.

Good question Ferretti. While the Dish TV SmartVU+ does have Bluetooth functionality, this is designed to pair the remote only, and will not work for other devices. You will need to pair the head phones to your TV if they are compatible. Trust this helps!

Does this receiver enable me to watch MUBI movies? And can I connect my external hard drive I have used with my existing aerial box T1020 and view the content on that HD?

Thanks for your question. Apps can vary subject to availability on the Google Play store and agreements with Mubi directly. We can't comment on if content will be available. The USB ports are for playing back media from external storage devices, through suitable apps or performing USB software updates, so this could work, however, we would recommend checking with the specialists in your local store to confirm.
