Does thread count matter?

Thread count is the number of threads per square 10 cm of fabric and is used as a rough indicator of the fabric's softness, quality and feel. A high thread count doesn't always mean it's of higher quality. It's important to look at other factors like fibre type, material quality, and weave.

If keeping cool is a priority, look for lower thread count sheets. High thread counts have a tighter weave, meaning they generally allow less airflow and lead to a heavier fabric that makes it hotter for sleeping.
