Fiddly buds!
I have been using the WF1000xm5 for over a month and am impressed. I mainly connect them to my iPhone; they work well, providing good sound and a decent battery. So why the 4-star rating?
Well, nothing is perfect. The charging case feels low rent! The top flexes and does not provide the rigidity of the AirPods case. Getting the Sony pods out of the case is fiddly, and I drop a bud frequently, which is frustrating.
The in-ear fit is ok, as none of the supplied tips provide an excellent experience.
Overall, they do their job, and that's fine. I will keep looking for the perfect buds. For now, the Sonys have replaced my Airpods Pro2.

I purchased these to use in the office and other locations to switch between devices during a busy working day. I have been unable to use them in the office because others on phone, zoom or team calls say they can hear other people clearly and not me and or l am in a wind tunnel.....they also don't easily interface to apple iphone. I had apple pods and they were great except for no dual connections. I should have tested both these and Bose out for a day! A smaller size ear plug option would also be good. I visited the jb hi fi story after purchase for assistance with settings and staff unable to assist.

Quality sound. Enjoying learning how they work. Background noise and ongoing Barking Dog noise not drowned out by supposed noise cancellation feature. Just feels like mobile speakers in ears to listen to devices. Tried varying ear bud sizes but earbuds keep on falling out of my eardrum onto carpet. Wouldn't feel safe keeping them in ears if I were mobile by walking, running or dancing anywhere. Struggle to keep in ear due to no anchor and overall large size. Maybe if the technology could fit into an earbud half the current design size they would fit real snug in the ear. Disappointed with proclaimed noise cancellation feature. Can't afford to have the volume too loud for ear drum safety.

The sound snd the design is amazing, but how can this so called Sony premium product does not have international warranty? I bought it in Australia and currently using them in Hong Kong. I lost the case accidentally and apparently I can only purchase a replacement case in the country I bought these buds in? The customer service even told me to fly back to the origin country to ask for help? And why do I need warranty to even purchase a replacement case, it is not like I am asking for a new one for free?

Flawed design
I thought about these headphones for MONTHS after adoring my over ear XM4s. I trusted the design and quality of Sony.
These however were terrible. I’m sure the audio quality is fine.. but because of the design, the heavy hardware pulled the in ear piece out of my ear. I couldn’t leave it in there without it falling out for longer than 30 seconds. If I stayed still and tried not to move so it stayed in, it would fall out if I so much as moved my mouth.
Trusting Sony would have decent arrangements with refunds in JBhifi I was told that this was a ‘change of mind’ and not eligible for a refund. And Sony wouldn’t help me either.
Absolutely devastated and lost trust in Sony. I am a designer by trade and I know some simple testing would have picked this up. I just don’t know what happened Sony. Devo.

Compare to XM4
Upgraded from XM4. Better and clearer sound. Smaller body avoids unwanted accidental touch on the sensor. Also the smaller Case & Connect Button is very welcome. NR is bit better? No wind noises which was the problem on the XM4. Although, the slippery body is the worst change, I've sticked small pieces of Band-Aid for the grips. Hopefully the battery won't gets faulty within 1 year like my 1st XM4.
Overall, I'm happy to upgraded to XM5.

Purchased them after having the xm4 and boy was i disappointed. For listening to music they are ok but for calls they are disgraceful as soon as there is a slight bit of background noise you cannot be heard at all for a product in the price bracket I would expect way more

Great, but...
I bought these amazing buds after I lost my Linkbuds S. I found them difficult to set up, with one bud not functioning during firmware update, after it failed to update completely several times. But they eventually updated and I made them fully functional.
Now I find them exceptional at noise cancelling and sound great, but the two issues are fit and calls. Sony still seem to have issues with fit, while I found Jabra Elite Pro/Actives to fit a lot better. Then calls weren't as good by far as the Linkbuds S & the Linkbuds were pretty competitive with these when it came to sound.
Now where these stood out was features, like nodding your head to answer a call, equaliser and other features that were just that bit better than the Linkbuds. Simply for sound, features, noise cancelling these are unbelievable, if you're looking for comfort, fit and durability go Jabra and for calls and buds you might not even know are there go Linkbuds S. I'll be very happy with these for a couple of years since I'm an audiophile... ...or until I lose them.
